Coverage Alert - Haiti Earthquake

As of 1/12/10, the Haiti earthquake is a known/foreseeable event for
travel insurance purposes. Policies purchased on or after 1/12/10 do
not cover losses related to this event.
Several airlines have suspended flights to Haiti. Access America travel
insurance policies provide coverage for trip cancellation and trip
interruption when your airline, cruise line or tour operator stops
offering all services for at least 24 consecutive hours and/or your
destination is made uninhabitable. We also may cover travel delay and
baggage loss/delay for customers who may be affected by this natural
disaster.
Please review your Letter of Confirmation and Certificate of
Insurance/Policy to find out more details about the coverage that
you've purchased. For your convenience, you will find some information
below about Travel Delay and Trip Cancellation/Interruption benefits
which are commonly utilized as a result of natural disasters.

Travel Delay
If your Access America Letter of Confirmation lists Travel Delay as a
benefit, you may be eligible to receive reimbursement for additional
out of pocket meal or lodging expenses incurred as a result of a delay
of six or more consecutive hours (please note: this benefit has a per
person, per day maximum as well as a policy maximum). Some policies
also provide coverage for pre-paid, non-refundable expenses lost due to
the Travel Delay. For a list of documentation that should be provided
with your Travel Delay claim please click here.

Trip Cancellation/Interruption
In many of our programs if a Travel Delay exceeds 50% of the scheduled
trip, it may allow policy holders to recover lost non-refundable and
pre-paid trip expenses. Customers may also qualify for Trip
Cancellation/Interruption benefits if their travel supplier experienced
a complete cessation of services for 24 or more consecutive hours due
to a natural disaster, or their destination is uninhabitable because of
a natural disaster. For a list of documentation that should be provided
with your Trip Cancellation/Interruption claim please click here.
